Provenant du importante collection privée La voiture présentée ici témoigne d'un aspect peu connu de l'histoire d'Alfa Romeo : sa collaboration avec Renault qui vit la construction sous licence pour le marché italien de la berline Dauphine par l'usine Alfa du Portello.
Conçue au début des années 1950 en vue de remplacer la 4 CV, la Dauphine fut mise en production en décembre 1955.
Plus grande que sa devancière, la Dauphine reprenait néanmoins l'architecture de base de la 4 CV avec son moteur de 845 cm3 monté à l'arrière et ses quatre roues indépendantes.
La Dauphine qui fut produite jusqu'en 1965 devint la première voiture française vendue à plus de deux millions d'exemplaires.
La voiture offerte ici est une version Ondine plus luxueusement équipée et finie que la Dauphine et dotée d'une boîte à quatre rapports.
La version construite en Italie se distinguait de la voiture française par son circuit électrique Marelli en 12 volts, des éclairages différents et des écussons Alfa Romeo...
