The Wolseley Motor Company was originally founded in 1901, and produced cars under their own marque brand from their plant in Birmingham, England.

After 1935 it was incorporated into larger companies but the Wolseley name remained as an upmarket marque until 1975.

Wolseley announced its most important model, the 6/80, in 1948 alongside the other similar looking cars in the new 1948 Nuffield range, sharing its body with the Morris Six.

Power for the 6/80 came in the form of a 2215cc, 72bhp six cylinder engine, complete with twin SU carbs and a four speed gearbox with column change - altogether this package produced lively performance figures by late 40's standards!.

The 6/80 soon became famous for its reliable service as a front line Police patrol car, these large, powerful cars served in this glamorous role for many years.
