Rover's 14/6 model was launched in 1934 on a lengthened under-slung chassis but retained its predecessor's 1,577cc, six-cylinder, overhead-valve engine.

The new frame enabled the adoption of low-line bodies, among them attractive 'streamline' versions of both saloon and coupé.

Chassis specification included a four-speed freewheel gearbox, hydraulic brakes, Luvax-Bijur automatic lubrication and electric windscreen wipers.

For 1939 the 14hp was revamped with a new 1,901cc 'six' developed from the four-cylinder unit of the contemporary Ten.

This Rover 14 saloon was purchased by the immediately preceding owner in 1970 on the death of the first owner, Sir Robert Turing, who had purchased it from Adcock's Garage in Chichester in 1939.

The car was used briefly up to the outbreak of war, at which time it was laid up.

At the war's end it was sent back to Rover to be checked over but unfortunately the owner was no longer unable to drive and the car was left in the garage.
