Introduced in the spring of 1932, the Austin Ten would prove an outstanding success, out-selling every other Austin model, including the Seven, from 1933 to 1939.

Powered by a 1,125cc, sidevalve four-cylinder engine, the Ten delivered 50mph-plus performance while its fuel consumption bettered 30 miles per gallon.

The four-speed gearbox was equipped with synchromesh for 1934, an improved, X-braced chassis and 12-volt electrics being standardised at the same time, and for the following season the model was subtly restyled, gaining a painted radiator shell and projecting boot.

Four-light Lichfield and six-light Sherborne saloons were offered alongside tourer and cabriolet models.

In 1937 a new Ten was introduced featuring all-steel six-light saloon coachwork with a proper boot, while other changes included a forward mounted engine, 16” steel wheels and Girling brakes.
