An improved version of Reliant's first sports car, the Sabre, the Ford Zephyr-powered Sabre Six was introduced in 1962.

The Tamworth firm's experience in the use of glassfibre for its three-wheelers led to the choice of this material for the bodywork, and with 109bhp available from its 2,553cc overhead-valve six, the attractively styled GT was good for over 110mph.

One of only 77 examples built between 1963 and 1966, ‘RFP 155B’ was originally supplied to Argyll Motors, of Birkenhead in December 1963.

The car subsequently enjoyed five owners before being taken off the road and put into dry storage in 1982.

Purchased by the immediately preceding owner in 1990 and comprehensively restored - in the main - by Chris Lloyd of Scimitar Services.

Wherever possible original fittings were retained during the restoration, which cost in excess of £10,000, but sensible modifications include a Kenlowe fan and a Toyota Celica five-speed gearbox.
