Description
Prior to the introduction of the revolutionary Traction Avant in 1934 that established it as one of the most innovative of automobile manufacturers, Citroen had produced a succession of conventional, reliable cars both at its Paris base and, from 1926, at Slough in England.
Typical of these was the C4, which was built in various guises from 1929 into 1932.
A four-cylinder sidevalve-powered car featuring coil ignition and vacuum servo-assisted brakes, the C4 was available in two different wheelbase lengths and – in the UK at least – six different body styles, the fabric versions being exclusive to this country.
The model underwent a major revision for its final year of production, as the C4G, enjoying a capacity increase from 1.6 to 1.8 litres and gaining mechanical brakes, rear-mounted fuel tank and an Autovac.
This left-hand drive C4F cabriolet is finished in maroon over black with contrasting grey part-leather interior, and is offered with Swansea V5.
