After Pinin Farina's successful re-design of the A40, Austin's larger cars duly received attention from the Italian carrozzeria, the first of these - the Austin A55 Cambridge MkII - appearing in 1959.

Also badged as a Morris, MG, Riley and Wolseley, the newcomer retained the 1,489cc B-Series engine of its predecessor beneath completely new bodywork sporting controversial tail fins.

The Cambridge was revamped for 1962 as the A60 with revised styling - out went the fins - and 1,622cc engine, and continued in production virtually unchanged until 1969.

This A60 Cambridge saloon was acquired by the Museum in 1997, having had two former keepers.

Last MoT’d/taxed in 2005/2006 , the car is described as ‘running but requiring complete body and chassis overhaul’.
