First registered in February 1932, this Riley Nine is an example of the improved ‘Plus Ultra’ model newly introduced for that year.

The previous season’s ‘Plus’ had incorporated an extensive package of improvements to which the ‘Plus Ultra’ added a dropped chassis frame that enabled Riley to keep the Nine’s occupants seated within the wheelbase, to the benefit of ride, comfort and handling, while increasing interior space and improving access.

Its coachwork, one of a multitude of styles available on the Nine chassis, is the ‘Ascot’ two-seater-plus-dickey drophead coupé.
