Few Ferraris have greater presence than the Competizione-bodied 365GTB/4 Daytona variants, and this splendidly imposing 4.4-litre four-cam V12 projectile is an excellent demonstration of the immense impact these cars still have, over thirty years after they were current.

We are advised that this particularly impressive Daytona was completed originally as a regular street-specification 365GTB/4 Berlinetta which was collected by its first owner from the factory in May 1972.

We understand that this car was subsequently purchased by well-known Ferrari Daytona ‘Competizione’ guru Piet Roelofs in Holland for his own use and enjoyment.

In the 1990s he embarked upon a complete, no-expense-spared rebuild to exact Series III Competizione specification, the most powerful configuration to which the factory cars were built for the 1973 Group 4 racing season.

The car’s steel body features full height Le Mans-style ‘Plexi’ nose treatment, together with lightweight doors, boot lid and bonnet.
