In 1964 the Ford Mustang was the official pace car of the Indianapolis 500.
This is a true early (1964-1/2) Ford Mustang convertible, as evidenced by the "stiffening skirt" along the edges of the hood, unique headlight buckets (which can be seen on this example) and factory-equipped with a generator charging system, 260 2V (F-code), large horns mounted down on the frame behind the radiator, a brakelight pressure switch on the master cylinder, a center "off" heater fan switch and a generator charge light.
These and other features are unique to the early 1964.5 Mustang.
This Pace Car tribute is finished in the proper white paint and is equipped with the F-code 260ci V8 engine with a 4-barrel carburetor mated to an automatic transmission.
Features include air conditioning, center console, an electric top and spinner hubcaps.
Other identifying features of the pace car replicas include Pace Car Blue racing stripes up the center of the hood and "Official Pace Car" decals along the sides...
