Metallic silver with black leather and gray carpets, this car was the subject of a complete, body-off, nut and bolt restoration of all the mechanical and cosmetic components.

Originally a California Black Plate car, the restoration done by Mercedes expert Tony Ostermeier make this currently one of the best examples of this rare model.

The original spare and tools are included, along with the original Blaupunkt radio.

Introduced at the Frankfurt show, the 220 embodied all of Mercedes' best virtues.

It was built to a standard made famous by Mercedes in their prewar years; the cars displayed superior handling, as well as classic styling and luxurious interiors.

These are the last Mercedes on which the doors were rear hinged, and bodywork retained separate fenders, running boards, and landau bars.

The 220 was available in other body styles, and only 1,278 were built in total.

Of those, the survivors of the 300 cabriolets built are among the most-desired Mercedes by collectors.
