This is a very unique and special 540k.
One of three cars known to exist with coachwork by the Swedish coachbuilder Norrmalm.
There is a pre-war Packard, Volvo and this 540k known to exist.
The chassis was delivered to Mr.
Max Gumpel of Stockholm, Sweden on September 30th, 1937.
The coachwork was completed and the car delivered to Mr.
Gumpel in late February 1938.
The car was registered on March 4th, 1938 with registration # a 54.
This is an extremely low registration # and shows the position Mr.
Gumpel held in Stockholm at the time.
Mr.
Gumpel was a flamboyant person and had the car equipped with marchal headlights, spotlight and running lights.
He also had a very large hood ornament of a nude goddess Diana with her bow shooting an arrow into the sky.
It is told that the seating in the car was to accommodate two girls in the front seat along with the driver.
Another interesting note is Mr.
Gumpel was a personal friend of Greta Garbo and when Miss Garbo visited Stockholm...
