This example has had just two owners since leaving military service, being first registered for civilian use in 1947.
Early in its life, either during or shortly after, the chassis was professionally lengthened by approximately two feet, creating a far more practical vehicle than the standard short-wheelbase Jeep while retaining its unmistakable profile and mechanical simplicity.
Back in the era it was common for some of these Jeeps, during and post war, to be utilised in a host of different industries and this could therefore explain the extension to the wheelbase.
In the early 1960s, the Jeep was rescued from an orchard where it had been used for transporting apples, at which time the original tub had deteriorated and was replaced with the present Ford script body.
The previous custodians restored the vehicle for use as their working truck, continuing to run it on the road until 1984, when it was laid up following an MOT failure.
It then remained stored until 2018, when acquired...
