Description
When the Giugiaro-styled SVX was introduced to the USA in 1991, Subaru Of America arranged with Championship Auto Racing Teams (CART) for an example to be modified and liveried for use as a Pace Car at selected Indycar races.
Perhaps curiously, no replicas were produced for sale.
On its retirement, that special SVX was retained by SOA and now rarely comes out.
This example dates from 1992, when the model was introduced to the UK; it has covered 109,000 miles in its 27 years and has been in the present ownership for the last 22 of those years.
It was transformed into a tribute to the original SVX Pace car in 2015.
One other “tribute” car is known, which is in the USA; this car can therefore claim to be unique in the UK.
