AI Listing Summary

This 1992 Rover Sterling 827 Coupe is a rare two-door variant, originally intended for the US market but never sold there. Imported from Japan in 2016 with low mileage (18,000 miles), it features a 2.7 Honda V6 engine, automatic transmission, and is described as rust-free and in superb driving condition, with only 200 miles covered in the UK. The sale is due to the vendor needing to raise funds for another restoration project.

Condition

The car is described as 'superb and rust-free' with only 200 miles driven in the UK since import. It has a well-maintained service history and is believed to be in excellent mechanical condition. However, the description is provided by the vendor and 'Not Verified', so a rating of 'Outstanding' would be overly confident. A rating of 'Excellent' seems justified. A rating of 'Very Good' would be applied, if there was definite proof, that the car required minor reconditioning.

The Rover Sterling two-door Coupé version of the 827 was launched in early 1992, having debuted at the 1991 Motor Show.

This specification had originally been developed with the American market in mind but was never sold there, with Rover having pulled out of the US market before the Coupé's launch.

It was, however, sold to other export markets.

Eighty percent of the interior and exterior of the 800 Coupé was finished by hand. The original Rover 800 had also formed the basis for the coupe version of the Honda Legend after its 1986 launch, but at the time Rover had decided against launching a coupe version of the 800 Series.

From February 1992 until 1996, the Rover 800 Coupe came exclusively with the 2.7 Honda V6 engine and 16" Rover 'Prestige' alloys.

A four-speed automatic transmission came as standard, and the car was capable of well over 130 mph.

Imported from Japan in 2016 with only 18,000 miles on the Clock and UK Registered.
