Sold new in the United States in June 1972 (as evidenced by its Porsche certificate), this example is a sought-after version featuring an external oil filler flap.

Finished in ‘metallic gold’ (ref.

133), it is fitted with the 2.4-litre fuel-injected engine (10 hp more powerful than the European carburettor versions) and an optional 5-speed gearbox.

In terms of equipment, it benefited from 15-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning and tinted windows, as indicated on the copy of the car's purchase order.
In 2002, whilst it was still in Texas (where it had been sold new), its engine was completely overhauled at a cost of nearly $10,000.
