The launch and commercial release of the Jaguar XK 150 in 1957 fulfilled the increasing demand from customers who wanted a car with a similar design to the XK120 and 140, but with a number of upgrades.

The wider gille improved the engine's cooling.

Mechanically speaking, the XK150 stood out from the 140, as it included four Dunlop disc brakes (replacing drum brakes, which no longer provided reliable braking performance over long distances).

After testing this braking system on C-Type and D-type racing cars, it became clear that the XK150 was the first Jaguar capable of braking effectively without fading and able to cope with modern traffic conditions.
