When Ferrari decided to produce a mid-engined car, it completely re-designed the engine, with a set-up tested on the race track : a flat 12-cylinder engine which gave its name to the car : "Berlinetta Boxer".

Initially 4.4-litres, this grew to 5-litres and received fuel-injection on the 512 BBi version, producing 340 bhp.

Capable of 285 km/h, the car put Ferrari into the Supercar league.
 
This particular example was delivered new to Garage Francorchamp SA in Belgium on the 6th of May 1982.

It was shipped to the USA the following year and remained there until 2010, when it was brought back to Europe by an English collector.

In February 2014, it changed hands (still in England) and was serviced by specialist Bob Houghton Ltd in Gloucestershire.
