The story of this car is highly original, as Fritz Neuser told us: “In 1987, the director of Alfa Romeo Germany called me to say: ‘I’ve got 14 white Spiders waiting for you here in Frankfurt.

I’ll give you a good price.’ He knew that at the time, cars finished in white were unsellable, and I was obliged to take them.

To deal with the problem, I decided to modify them and produce a special series of cars.” This was how Auto-Neuser’s 14 ‘Breitspiders’ (‘wide Spiders) came about: fitted with wide ATS wheels, wheelarch extensions and modified suspension, they had body-colour bumpers and spoilers which made the whole car far more elegant than the regular model.
