From the 1980s onwards, the Williams team was one of the most serious contenders in Formula 1.

It was increasingly successful from 1989, when the constructor joined forces with Renault and used its V10 engine in its single-seaters, winning three World Championship Constructors’ titles from 1992–1994.

But the battle was tough, and in 1995 Williams missed out on the title as it faced the onslaught of Michael Schumacher and his Benetton, which was also powered by the Renault V10.
In response, Williams’ technical team, with Adrian Newey and Patrick Head, developed the FW18, still with a Renault engine.

As far as the drivers were concerned, Damon Hill was joined by Jacques Villeneuve and together they sent the sparks flying, with a total of 12 victories and six one-two finishes, the two drivers finishing respectively first and...
