The Eurocup Mégane Trophy started in 2005 as part of the World Series by Renault, running Mégane cars which adopted the styling of the production RS II, but with extensive modifications.

They had a tubular structure and a 320bhp V6 instead of the original 4-cylinder engine.
From 2009, the model evolved and took on the appearance of the Mégane RS III coupé.

Still powered by a V6 engine, now uprated to 360bhp, this new competition version had a sophisticated body with numerous aerodynamic features such as splitters, spoilers, a diffuser and a huge rear wing.

The doors were of the scissor-opening type, and a roof-mounted air intake fed air directly into the inlet manifold.
