Ligier has been known as a racing car manufacturer since 1969 and was heavily involved in the Formula 1 World Championship between 1976 and 1996.

At the same time, the brand is developing a range of small cars that can be used with or without a licence.

Introduced in June 1983, the 'plage' (beach) version of the JS8, which required a driving licence on account of its 125cc engine, saw its production limited to 40 examples, of which only a handful survive to this day.

The model presented here is number 22 and was registered on 21 July 1983.

The 1st owner eventually gave the car to his son.

The latter used it sparingly, as the odometer only displayed a few kilometres than the current 178 km.
