AI Listing Summary

This 1976 Lancia Stratos, one of only 492 produced, has been with the same French family for almost 40 years and retains its original engine. While it presents a unique restoration opportunity, the car has been repainted, fitted with Group 4 rims and wider wings, and shows wear consistent with its age and use.

Condition

6

The car is described as being in incredible used-condition with its original engine and a mileage of just over 87,000 km. The seats are believed to be original in their central part, and the bodywork number is located on various elements. The car has kept its old Glaverbel windshield, and there are traces of the original midnight blue paint. However, the car was repainted in red and equipped with Group 4 rims and wider wings in 1987. Also, the car requires a unique restoration project of unquestionable authenticity.

The prototype was first shown by the coachbuilder Nuccio Bertone at the 1970 Turin Motor Show, fitted with a Fulvia HF four-cylinder engine.

The little coupé attracted much attention and a year later, again at the Turin Motor Show, the prototype that was essentially the definitive version was presented, equipped with a Ferrari V6 engine (from the Dino 246).

The decision to produce a limited series of the Stratos was made in March 1971 to allow Lancia to compete in the World Rally Championship.
