Présentée au Salon de Genève 1967, la 530 possède une très bonne tenue de route, une suspension très confortable et un excellent freinage.
Destinée à une clientèle jeune, proposée trop chère, la cible la délaissera au profit de la Simca 1000 ou la R8.
La voiture obtiendra un énorme coup de pub lorsqu'elle apparaîtra entre les mains de Jean Gabin dans le film 'le Pacha' de Georges Lautner.
