Ainsi, lorsque la commande d'un exemplaire était passée, une E21 de série était envoyée chez Baur qui se chargeait de la modification, avec découpe du toit, renfort de la caisse et montage du système.
Cette originale modification augmentait d'environ 30% la facture d'achat, et seuls 1874 exemplaires en seront produits sur la base 320.
Immatriculée pour la première fois en France le 10 novembre 1980, l'exemplaire présenté a ensuite changé de mains en 1994 avant d'être vendu en 1997.
C'est en 2014 que son actuel propriétaire en a fait l'acquisition auprès d'un garage, la voiture sortait alors d'un stockage prolongé.
