Le système déjà commercialisé sur les 401 et 601, breveté par Georges Paulin, permet au toit rigide de s'escamoter dans le vaste coffre arrière.
La transformation est effectuée chez Pourtout : avec une commande manuelle, l'Éclipse peut donc être "décapotée" à volonté tout en bénéficiant d'un toit rigide.
Son exemple a, depuis, été très largement suivi, ce qui est une reconnaissance de l'ingéniosité de ce dispositif.
De 1957 à 1973, la voiture que nous présentons se trouvait dans le département du Lot et, de 1973 à 2013, elle est restée entre les mains d'un mécanicien passionné habitant Meauzac, dans le Tarn-et-Garonne.
