La Pontiac Big Six qui nous intéresse ici était dérivée de la Chief présentée au Salon de New-York 1926 et équipée d'un six-cylindres latéral de plus de 3 litres, souple et puissant pour l'époque.
La Big Six a rencontré un grand succès permettant à la marque Pontiac de s'imposer au sein du groupe General Motors, notamment en face de Oakland qui dû s'incliner et disparaître.
Par la suite, Pontiac est devenue une marque qui s'est distinguée dans les années 1960 et 1970 par ses modèles sportifs, notamment sous l'ère des "muscle cars".
