1937 DARMONT STR Châssis n° 51194 Entre auto et moto, répondant parfaitement dès 1911 à la définition du cyclecar telle qu'elle sera officialisée en France par la loi de finances de 1921 (maximum 1100 cm3, 350 kg et deux places) accordant le bénéfice d'une fiscalité réduite à ce type de véhicule, le tricyclecar Darmont est la copie française du Morgan britannique tel qu'il fut conçu par H.F.S.

Morgan avant 1914.

Profitant de cette législation, les frères Robert et André Darmont importèrent le Morgan en France après la Grande Guerre et s'illustrèrent en compétition au volant de modèles préparés.

En 1923, ils en lancèrent la production dans un petit atelier de Courbevoie, théoriquement sous licence, mais il semblerait que les redevances ne furent pas longtemps versées.

Le type français copiait fidèlement le type anglais avec un châssis fait d'une poutre tubulaire longitudinale, d'un cadre d'essieu avant transversal également tubulaire recevant les porte-fusées coulissants sur les axe...
