Description
5343cc V12, auto.
This Jaguar Railton F28 Fairmile is a real piece of automotive history.
Designed for Jaguar by William Towns, it's one of two aluminium-bodied prototypes (the other being the F29 Claremont) built around a V12 XJS platform, with the aim of creating an exotic convertible supercar.
Unveiled in 1989 with a huge launch price that increased to £105,000, the Railton never saw production beyond the two prototypes.
This is therefore a completely unique car with a few differences from the Claremont – including wider wheel arches to give it a more sporting stance.
The interior is trimmed in cream leather with red piping and its odometer shows just 29,628 miles.
It also still wears its original registration number, F28 LJR. Unfortunately, we don’t have any maintenance history.
The last Mo
T expired in 2016, and only 150 miles have been driven since then, so recommissioning is likely to be required.
The car does run and drive, but the power steering pump is making a noise...
