The vendor has owned this Volkswagen Golf 2.0 GTI MkII since 2017 but has known it since 2002.

The previous owner extensively and expensively modified it over 15 years with substantial performance upgrades including a £3000 engine, uprated (but not lowered) suspension and brakes and various changes to the interior, with the work amounting to over £30,000.

The mods include a performance-tuned TSR ‘Brands Hatch' 2.0-litre engine when the car's mileage was at 146,000, MkIV Golf brake calipers and discs, short-shift gear selector, Sparco seats and frames, and four-point harnesses.

There's also a Toad alarm fitted.

The vendor tells us that the car runs very well with no issues, although he notes that the bonnet release cable has slipped out of the catch - however, the bonnet can still be opened with a bar or screwdriver through the grille.
