Robin Hood Engineering Ltd was founded in 1980 appropriately enough in Sherwood, Nottinghamshire.

It started out making Ferrari Daytona replicas based on the Rover SD1, along with Super Sevens after production by Lotus ended.

The Robin Hood was introduced in 1989 using Triumph mechanicals.

The monocoque style chassis was manufactured using a Triumph Dolomite or, later, Ford Cortina and Ford Sierra as a donor vehicle.

The Robin Hood policy was for all the bits for a kit to come from a single donor vehicle, rather than a variety of different machines.

A new style, more advanced chassis was adopted for the Robin Hood 2B of 1999, as here.

This example was registered in August 2001, and has had three former registered keepers according to its V5C.
