48904Belgian registration certificateVehicle sold without a roadworthiness test‘A superb reconstruction of the Veritas – both beautiful and high-performing’ In the immediate post-war period, particularly in Germany, the shortage of raw materials and the scarcity of available racing cars led to the creation of numerous interesting ‘specials’, a category which includes the Veritas – strange concoctions combining pre-war BMW 328 mechanical components with post-war styling.

As the Allied occupying forces prohibited German manufacturers from producing engines larger than 1,000 cm³, the BMW 328 – which had been one of the most prominent sports cars of the late 1930s with its powerful 2-litre 6-cylinder engine – proved to be an ideal candidate for many independent manufacturers, including Veritas, a company founded in West Germany by Ernst Loof, Georg Meier and Lorenz Dietrich, who had met in Paris during the war. Right from the start, Veritas proved highly competitive, winning ...
