Despite the lack of a proper motorsport programme in the mid-1950s, the Milan-based firm unveiled a lighter version of the Giulietta Sprint in April 1954… a sort of 1950s ‘Customer Competition’! Thanks to this, Alfa Romeo was represented at numerous circuits and races, such as the Tour de France Automobile, the Mille Miglia and the Targa Florio, to name but a few! The modified Giulietta was christened the Giulietta Sprint Veloce Alleggerita, and only a handful of examples were produced (200 according to the most reliable sources, of which 40 still survive!).
