In 1994, the Stuttgart firm announced its latest arrival, the all-new 911, named 993.

As usual, Porsche's engineers reworked everything! After a reign of just 3 years, it was replaced by the 996, which offered a leap into the modern era.

A disaster for purists, the air-cooled flat-6 engine was abandoned, making the 993 the most accomplished traditional 911...
The introduction of the 993 Turbo prompted customers to ask for an uncompressed model with the same lines.

Porsche fulfilled this dream in 1996 with the unveiling of the 4S version, based on the same engine as the Carrera, and revised at the same time with the addition of the Varioram system (variable-length intake manifolds) to increase power from 272 to 285 hp.
