The Lola T492 is derived from the famous T490, which dominated the UK Sports 2000 championship in the late 1970s.
It was destined to extend the British manufacturer's dominance not only in Europe, but also in the USA.
High-performance yet manageable for the discerning enthusiast, the formula was adopted by other countries, and in 2 years the Huntingdon-based manufacturer was able to produce 91 Lola T492s: 46 for the USA, 30 for the UK, 11 for Holland, 7 for Sweden, and 1 each for France, Switzerland and Denmark.
Slightly different, the T492 retained the reliability and balance of the T490, but with two side radiators for improved cooling and track performance.
