In its Bristol 2-liter version with three carburetors and a 4-speed gearbox, it won renown on the racetrack, notably in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, but also in rallies, such as the Tour de France Automobile and hill climbs.

Only 466 examples received this coveted engine, making the Ace Bristol one of the purest expressions of the post-war sports roadster.
