Following the legendary Mustang, one of the biggest commercial successes of the 1960s, Ford Europe sought to create a pony car suited to the Old Continent.

The criteria? A simple, sporty, affordable and fully customisable car.


This project gave rise to the Ford Capri, which was unveiled at the Brussels Motor Show in January 1969.
As expected, the car was sleek, with a fastback profile and a long bonnet, a style that was very popular in the United States at the time.


Available at launch with five different engines and a plethora of options, the Capri suited all customers and their expectations, from the simplest finish to the most luxurious versions, including the sportiest ones.
For Europe, it was built in both England and Germany.

It was a huge commercial success, with 1.2 million Ford Capri MK1s sold.
After several restylings, production ceased in 1986.
