Simca 5 – 1936

French registration title

In 1934, a Franco-Italian industrialist by the name of Henri Pigozzi founded Société Industrielle de Mécanique et Carrosserie Automobile (SIMCA).

To launch his company, he simultaneously obtained a licence to produce the Fiat 500 Topolino in France.
Production ran from 1936 to 1949, with three main versions: saloon, cabriolet and van.

In all, almost 46,000 units were produced, democratising the car in France.
The example we are presenting here was put into circulation during the first year of production.

A few years ago, it joined the collection of a Monegasque enthusiast, who asked his mechanics to give it a complete restoration.
Since the restoration, the car has covered only a handful of kilometres, the vast majority being kept on display in the current owner’s collection.

Before taking to the road again, the braking system will need servicing, and one of the nuts on the right-hand rear wheel will need changing.
