At the very beginning of the last century, Mr.

Corre founded the Compagnie française des Automobiles Corre, and quickly made a name for himself in competition.

But a 5-year lawsuit with Renault, which he eventually lost, forced him to sell his company to one of his engineers.
In 1907, the brand name was changed to La Licorne.

The company then took the name Compagnie française des Automobiles Corre - La Licorne, then La Licorne, in reference to the mythical animal that appeared on the Lestienne engineer’s family coat of arms.
Up until the First World War, the brand, always highly invested in competition, also acquired an excellent reputation, particularly in terms of reliability.

Partly thanks to the De Dion, Ballot and Chapuis-Dornier engines used in its creations.
