* Citroën DS 19 Cabriolet Chapron – 1962

Swiss registration title, in temporary importation

Presented in 1955, the lines of the DS were a great inspiration to coachbuilder Henri Chapron, who three years later offered his sublime interpretation in the form of a cabriolet.

Convinced by the proposal, Citroën included it in its range from 1960, but continued to entrust production to the Levallois-Perret coachbuilder.

Until 1971, they were known as ‘factory convertibles’.
Incorporating all the technical innovations of the saloon, in particular the hydropneumatic suspension, no European cabriolet was to match the beauty and comfort of the DS for several years.

In all, only 1,365 factory convertibles were built on the basis of the DS 19 and DS 21 between 1960 and 1971.
Our example was ordered by Citroën from Chapron in June 1962, and was the 296th cabriolet to be built.

Numbered 8296, it corresponds to the first series equipped with ashtrays wings.
