The Citroën 2CV, a popular icon and a veritable monument to French history, was built in over 5 million units between
1948 and 1990; designed for a hard-working rural population with limited means, it had to have four seats and be capable of carrying 50 kg of luggage at 60 km/h, without exceeding a tax rating of “2 CV”, while being easy to maintain and economical.


Presented at the 1980 Paris Motor Show, the 2CV6 Charleston was distinguished by its very smart finish and its black/Delage red colour, in a design reminiscent of the top-of-the-range cars of the 1930s; at the time, the Charleston was only a limited series, intended to be built in 8,000 examples, but it was so successful that Citroën decided to include this new model
in its catalogue.
