In May 2000, BMW sold the MG Rover group to the ‘Phoenix’ consortium for a symbolic £10; the decision was taken to launch an MG-badged sports range based on the Rover 25, 45 and 75.

The styling office was entrusted to Peter Stevens, and the range was to appeal to young, dynamic British executives, as well as making them dream in competition with the X Power program
The model presented here is the MG ZS 180, based on the Rover 45 from which it takes its platform; in Ignition Blue with a semi-leather and blue cloth interior, our Mk2, equipped with the 177 bhp KV6 engine, was produced in around 6,800 units
