It was the culmination of two years of research aimed at offering customers a multi-purpose vehicle that was both practical for tradesmen and families, while retaining the elegance and technical features of the saloon.
This concept in ‘57, which was very popular in the USA, was only represented in France by the Simca Marly V8 estate.
Pierre Franchiset, the man who designed the type H, designed a very elegant, practical and fast station wagon for the time.
The car was presented at the 1958 Paris Motor Show, but was only released one year later.
Produced from 1959 to 1975, it was a considerable worldwide success.
