At the beginning of the 1950’s, as Japan was just recovering from the Second World War and its defeat, the Toyota brand started a new segment.

It had already built a few thousand cars (Toyota A1) before the war, but now set its sights on an all-terrain vehicle, outrageously copying the American Jeep.

In July 1951, two Toyota «Jeeps» climbed Mount Fuji in front of baffled journalists.

The Toyota J was born! From 1955 to 1960, the Japanese brand developed its now legendary Land Cruiser with the Series 2 and 3.

For the new decade, the design of the mythical cross-country vehicle is refined and gentler to address the general public, and not only the military and professionals.

The 4th series, which also benefits from all the experience acquired since the 1950s, will launch Toyota to the level of the largest manufacturers in the world.
