The sales of its luxury models having been hard hit by the depression which followed the Wall Street crash in 1929, the Mercedes-Benz brand, born only three years before and already renowned for its technical excellence and its luxury cars, is looking to relaunch itself by establishing itself on the niche of mid-range family cars.
