The Mercedes 500 E is a myth, and despite the disenchantment it has suffered for several years, enlightened enthusiasts who have carefully preserved their cars have not been mistaken: the sedan assembled at Porsche had the potential of a true collector's item from its birth.

In 1993, after the third and final restyling of the W124, 12 units of the E60 were first assembled directly at AMG, they are retrospectively called the E60 Limited.
These rare examples were sold at a high price by the firm and were so successful that several hand-picked customers demanded similar models.
Mercedes then offered them the possibility of delivering new E 500s to AMG for modification by AMG.
