The BMW 1600 GT is a rare twodoor coupé, developed from the Glas 1300 and 1700 GT models.

In 1963, the German manufacturer Glas turned to Pietro Frua in Turin to design a distinctive coupé.

The result was the Glas 1300 GT, with inimitable Italian styling, a long, sloping bonnet, two slender bumpers and an overall fastback shape.

Frua was responsible for building the bodies, with final assembly taking place in the Glas factory in Germany.

The engine came from the 1304 saloon and developed 75 bhp.

The dashboard was resolutely sporty with round dials and the essential woodrimmed steering wheel.

The chassis was built on a monocoque platform and featured independent front suspension and a solid rear axle.

Braking was taken care of by two discs at the front and drums at the rear.

In 1965, the engine capacity increased to 1682 cc and maximum power to 100 bhp.
