Willys-Knight cars, produced from 1914 to 1933, were known for their sleeve-valve engines, offering smooth and quiet performance.
Charles Yale Knight, the inventor, faced skepticism initially. One story says he secretly installed his engine in a borrowed car and demonstrated its quiet operation to Willys executives, leading to a deal.
A lesser-known fact: Willys-Knight used a unique "plunger" cooling system in some models. Instead of a conventional water pump, a plunger driven by the engine circulated coolant.
