Every Model
Trabant, an East German car, was produced from 1957 to 1990 by VEB Sachsenring Automobilwerke Zwickau. It was known for its Duroplast body, made from recycled materials.
The Trabant was a symbol of East Germany and the limitations of its planned economy. Despite long waiting lists, it provided affordable transportation for many.
A little-known fact: Trabants were initially designed with air-cooled engines, but due to material shortages, they switched to two-stroke engines. This change contributed to the car's smoky exhaust and reputation.
