Sears never actually manufactured cars.
They partnered with Lincoln-owned Detroit-based automaker, the Lincoln Motor Car Company, to distribute a rebadged version of the Lincoln automobile through Sears stores.
The story goes that the Sears Auto Supply division wanted to offer a car, but instead of building one, they chose to partner with an established manufacturer. The result was a short-lived venture, with the Lincoln being sold through Sears catalogs and select stores. It wasn't a success, and the partnership ended quickly.
